The Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has revealed alarming details about the devastation caused by recent floods to the province’s education infrastructure.

According to the final report submitted to the Chief Secretary’s office, 370 schools across 14 districts have been damaged — including 58 schools completely destroyed and 312 partially affected.

The report estimates that over Rs 2 billion will be required for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged schools. A cost breakdown shows that the restoration of a primary school will require Rs 35 million, middle school Rs 26 million, high school Rs 75 million, and higher secondary school Rs 65 million.
