KP Government Approves Rs200,000 Monthly House Allowance for Ministers, Advisors, and Special Assistants
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has granted a house allowance of Rs200,000 per month to provincial ministers, advisors, and special assistants who have not been allotted government residences. This significant decision was taken during the KP Cabinet’s 11th meeting, held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The meeting, attended by ministers, advisors, special assistants, senior members of the Board of Revenue, additional chief secretaries, and administrative secretaries, approved amendments to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ministers (Salaries, Allowances, and Privileges) Act of 1975. Additionally, the terms and conditions for advisors and special assistants were revised to include the newly approved house allowance.
In further efforts to address social issues, the provincial cabinet approved a grant-in-aid of Rs326.40 million for the Drug Free Peshawar Programme Phase-III, aiming to rehabilitate around 2,000 drug addicts. Additionally, Rs23.10 million was allocated for the Beggars Free Peshawar Programme to eliminate beggary from the streets of Peshawar.
Chief Minister Gandapur directed the social welfare department to offer free services to families across the province who wish to rehabilitate a drug-addicted family member but cannot afford the treatment. He also instructed cabinet members to devise plans for weekly visits to districts to inspect public service delivery and monitor developmental projects, with a special emphasis on activities in the Merged Districts.
The cabinet also approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Livestock and Poultry Production Act 2024 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Animal Welfare Act 2024, both of which will be placed before the provincial assembly. These legislations aim to regulate livestock and poultry production activities and set standards for humane handling, treatment, and transportation of animals in the province.
Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned the cost enhancement for the repair and rehabilitation of the Mahabat Khan Mosque in Peshawar from Rs87.700 million to Rs152.00 million. This project aims to preserve and restore the historical mosque to its original grandeur.
In another significant move, the provincial cabinet approved the release of Rs1.377 billion to the Food Department to settle remaining wheat procurement liabilities for growers, suppliers, and their authorized representatives. This brings the total financial obligations for the procurement of 208,993.873 MT of wheat to Rs20.377 billion.
