KP CM Suhail Afridi Criticizes Unwarranted Political Interference, Vows to Restore Peace
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, has expressed serious concerns over individuals interfering in political matters despite having no role in politics. Addressing a joint Darbar of police officers and civil administrators, the chief minister said the province has been facing extraordinary circumstances, suffering from terrorism for more than four decades.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, stating that the force has bravely fought terrorism for 21 years despite limited resources. “The entire nation is proud of the sacrifices made against terrorism. If we fight for the pleasure of Allah and in the interest of the people, victory will be ours,” he said. Afridi reiterated that peace would be restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at all costs, adding that closed-door decisions would no longer be acceptable.
The chief minister highlighted ongoing measures to strengthen the police force, including the provision of bulletproof vehicles, modern weaponry, and anti-drone systems. He said advanced technology is being supplied on an emergency basis, and a new policy will be introduced for families of martyred civil servants. Afridi also made it clear that political interference in official matters would not be tolerated, but officers must deliver results.
He reaffirmed zero tolerance for corruption and said no leniency would be shown to anyone. An open-door policy has been adopted for public facilitation, while government officers’ performance will be evaluated through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). “With faith, courage, and determination, we will defeat terrorism,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by the chief secretary, inspector general of police, additional chief secretaries, administrative secretaries of provincial departments, divisional and district officers, and a large number of police personnel. A prayer was also offered for the martyrs of police and civil administration.
CM Afridi reiterated that some individuals continue to interfere in politics despite having no business in it. He added that those responsible for delivering justice often fail to do so, further worsening the situation. He emphasized following the vision of Imran Khan to provide relief and justice to the people.
