Kiara Advani Trolled for 2019 Interview Fumble on South Indian States and Languages

Kiara Advani, who has gained immense popularity in Bollywood, is currently facing online backlash for an old interview clip that has resurfaced. In the 2019 interview, while promoting her Telugu action film Vinaya Vidheya Rama alongside co-star Ram Charan on Rana Daggubati’s talk show, Kiara was asked to name South Indian states and languages. She initially responded with Telangana and Karnataka but struggled to name Andhra Pradesh. Even with hints from Daggubati, she could not correctly identify the state associated with the Malayalam language.

The interview clip has now gone viral on social media platforms, with users comparing her to fellow actress Alia Bhatt, who also faced trolling after a similar gaffe on a popular talk show. Netizens have been quick to mock Advani’s knowledge, with comments like “Being an Indian and not knowing our states and languages is shameful,” and another stating, “Her original name was Alia, what do you expect?”

Kiara, who recently tied the knot with Sidharth Malhotra in February 2023, has yet to comment on the trolling. The actress will soon be seen reuniting with Ram Charan in the upcoming Telugu political action drama Game Changer.
