Kashmiris Protest in Geneva, Demand UN Action Against India’s Human Rights Violations
Kashmiris from various European countries came together in front of the United Nations in Geneva to protest against India’s continued human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The demonstrators, carrying placards and photos of martyrs, chanted slogans like “Modi Murdabad” and “India Murdabad” as they demanded freedom for Kashmir and the right to self-determination.
Kashmiri leaders from Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, the UK, and Switzerland addressed the crowd, calling for international attention to the plight of Kashmiris and urging the UN Human Rights Commission to take immediate notice. Prominent speakers included Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Chaudhry Yaseen, Mrs. Shameem Shal, and Naila Kiyani.
The protest highlighted the need for the release of detained pro-freedom leaders in Kashmir and condemned the ongoing Indian oppression in the region. The demonstrators called upon global institutions, particularly the UN, to act against the systematic abuse of human rights in occupied Kashmir.
