Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has continued its sit-in against inflation, high electricity prices, and exorbitant taxes on utility bills for the 12th consecutive day. The protest, which is taking place at Liaquat Bagh Chowk on Murree Road, has seen daily participation from JI supporters and concerned citizens.

Despite multiple rounds of talks between JI and a government committee, no successful agreement has been reached so far. This has led the JI leadership to start considering a change in the protest venue in hopes of gaining more attention and impact.

Participants at the sit-in have been resilient, with local philanthropists stepping in to provide breakfast to those involved. The atmosphere remains charged as the party’s leadership deliberates on the next steps to amplify their cause.

The JI’s protest focuses on the rising costs of electricity and the heavy taxes imposed on utility bills, which they argue are burdening the common citizen. The prolonged sit-in underscores the party’s commitment to addressing these issues and pressuring the government to take action.

As the consultations on relocating the protest venue continue, the JI leadership remains determined to keep the momentum of their movement alive. The party has not yet disclosed potential new locations for the sit-in but emphasizes that the struggle against economic hardships will persist until their demands are met.
