The Israeli military claimed on Saturday that it had killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a targeted airstrike on the group’s central headquarters in Beirut’s southern suburbs, commonly known as Dahiyeh. Nasrallah has led the Iran-backed militant group for 32 years, playing a central role in Hezbollah’s operations and political influence across the Middle East.

The announcement was made by Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee on the social media platform X, where he stated, “The Israeli military eliminated Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.” The statement went on to declare that Nasrallah would no longer “terrorize the world.”

While Israel launched a fresh wave of airstrikes across Beirut and southern Lebanon on Saturday, Hezbollah has yet to issue any official statement confirming or denying the death of its leader. Nasrallah has been a key figure in the Lebanon-Israel conflict and has survived numerous assassination attempts in the past. His potential death could mark a significant turning point in the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

The airstrikes follow escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides engaging in cross-border attacks in recent weeks. Israeli military officials have attributed their intensified campaign to Hezbollah’s increasing threat along Israel’s northern border. As the news of Nasrallah’s alleged death spreads, experts are concerned about potential retaliation from Hezbollah and further instability in the region.
