Afghanistan’s Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani has emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is committed to regional security and stability and that the Afghan people pose no threat to any country.

According to Afghan television channel Tolo News, Haqqani made these remarks while addressing a ceremony organized to recognize the performance of the Kabul municipality and other institutions. During his address, he welcomed recent statements by Pakistani religious scholars and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar aimed at easing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

Haqqani said he appreciated statements that contribute to resolving issues between the two neighboring countries. Referring specifically to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, he said that Pakistan’s foreign minister had made positive remarks regarding Afghanistan, adding that such goodwill and brotherly statements are welcomed from anyone.

The Afghan interior minister also acknowledged and thanked Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani for their statements in support of Afghanistan.

Reiterating the stance of the Islamic Emirate, Haqqani said that Afghanistan is committed to maintaining peace and security within the region. He stressed that the Afghan people neither harbor hostile intentions toward others nor seek to threaten any country.

“When there is peace and security within our own country, we want to convey a message of brotherhood and peace to the world,” he said, adding that Afghanistan seeks to address concerns both domestically and internationally and reassure all nations that Afghan soil will not be used for hostile purposes.

Haqqani also appealed to the international community to play a role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan and urged Afghan citizens to support the Islamic Emirate in rebuilding the country.

It is worth noting that earlier, during a press conference in Islamabad, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan holds goodwill toward Afghanistan and does not want Afghan territory to be used against Pakistan. He also welcomed a statement issued by a recent gathering of religious scholars in Kabul, which emphasized that Afghan soil should not be used against any other country.
