Islamabad Bans Horns Ahead of Independence Day to Curb Nuisance

In a fresh directive issued ahead of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, the Islamabad district administration has imposed a citywide ban on the sale and use of horns — including vuvuzelas and plastic bajas — to ensure peace and public order.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has instructed all assistant commissioners and field teams to launch daily operations against stalls selling these noise-making instruments. The instructions stress immediate on-ground enforcement, including confiscation of horns and strict legal action against violators.
Officials stated that the excessive use of horns during August 14 celebrations often causes disturbance to the public, elderly, and hospitals, prompting this preventive measure.
The ban will remain in place until Independence Day, with increased vigilance across markets and public areas.
