International Media Raises Concerns Over Hindutva Ideology
International media outlets have reported an alarming rise in the influence of Hindutva ideology and caste-based discrimination within the Indian diaspora in Western countries. According to these reports, supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government are actively promoting these ideologies abroad, with upper-caste Hindus allegedly suppressing lower-caste communities, particularly Dalits.
The reports suggest that caste-based discrimination is not only persisting but also gaining momentum within Indian communities outside of India. Dalits, who have long faced oppression in India, are reportedly facing similar treatment in Western nations where Indian diasporas have established themselves. Additionally, Muslims are being targeted globally by pro-Modi factions.
The media coverage further highlights concerns about efforts by pro-Modi segments of the Indian diaspora to influence Western policymakers by downplaying human rights violations, particularly in Kashmir. This comes after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which changed Kashmir’s constitutional status and raised international human rights concerns.
Critics argue that controversial policies like the Citizenship Amendment Bill, which many see as discriminatory against Indian Muslims, further reflect the divisive ideology of Modi’s government. These developments raise questions about the long-term impact of Hindutva on regional stability, minority rights, and global relations.
Western governments, the reports claim, have remained largely silent on these issues, prompting calls for greater international scrutiny of India’s internal policies and their exportation to diasporic communities.
