Internal Rift in KP Deepens, CM Gandapur Replaces Focal Person Amid Growing Tensions
The internal rift within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government appears to be deepening as Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has removed his focal person, MNA Junaid Akbar Khan, without disclosing the reasons for the decision. MNA Junaid had been serving as the CM’s liaison with the National Assembly members elected from KP.
In a surprising move, the provincial government has appointed MNA Shahid Ahmad Khan, who represents Karak NA-38, as the new focal person for the chief minister. MNA Shahid will now be responsible for coordinating with the MNAs of KP on behalf of the provincial government and the CM.
This development follows closely on the heels of the resignation of KP Minister for Communication and Works, Shakeel Ahmed, who stepped down from his post after reportedly clashing with CM Gandapur. The two leaders allegedly exchanged heated remarks in a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians’ WhatsApp group, leading to Shakeel Ahmed’s resignation.
The ongoing tensions within the KP government have raised concerns about the stability of the provincial administration, as internal disputes continue to unfold. The situation highlights growing friction within the ruling party in the province, with key figures being reshuffled or stepping down.
