Information Minister Atta Tarar Dismisses Possibility of Talks Between Army and PTI
Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has dismissed the possibility of any talks between the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in response to Imran Khan’s recent statement expressing willingness for negotiations. Speaking on a private TV program “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath,” Tarar stated that he does not foresee any chance of dialogue between the military and PTI.
Atta Tarar highlighted that the only consistent thing about Imran Khan is his tendency to take U-turns, pointing out that Khan once vowed not to spare anyone but is now calling for dialogue. “What kind of effort is this to involve the army in politics or seek their support?” Tarar questioned, adding that PTI’s social media cells might have compelled Khan to make such pleas.
Discussing the proposed amendments to the Election Act, Tarar explained that these provisions already existed in the constitution and that the effects of legislative actions taken by Parliament will be evident. He emphasized that it is within Parliament’s authority to decide whether the law will be applied retrospectively.
