In an unprecedented show of camaraderie, Indian Lt Gen S Mohan, currently deployed in South Sudan, has expressed high praise for Pakistan’s peacekeeping forces in the region. In a letter addressed to Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir, Lt Gen Mohan lauded the professionalism, dedication, and resilience of the Pakistani Blue Helmets, particularly Brigadier Shafaqat Iqbal and Lieutenant Colonel Shahbaz Aslam.

The letter highlights how Pakistani peacekeepers have been instrumental in ensuring the safety of South Sudanese citizens, particularly in flood-hit areas where over 250,000 internally displaced people were protected. The commendation from an Indian commander is a rare moment of appreciation that transcends national borders, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and security.

According to an ISPR statement, the Pakistani contingent’s efforts are in line with the United Nations Security Council mandate, and their dedication has been recognized at the highest levels. The letter stands as a testament to the significant contribution of Pakistani peacekeepers in maintaining peace and security in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
