India Issues Second Flood Alert to Pakistan Within 24 Hours

India has issued a second flood warning to Pakistan within 24 hours. According to diplomatic sources, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad contacted Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informing about the rising water levels in River Sutlej, which may cause flooding.
Earlier, India had warned Pakistan about a major flood threat in River Tawi, Jammu & Kashmir. Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Khan stated that India communicated this through diplomatic channels instead of the Indus Water Commission, which is a violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. He added that India’s unilateral suspension of the treaty is a serious breach of international law and could negatively impact peace and stability in South Asia.
Following the Indian warning, authorities in Punjab have been directed to take precautionary measures in anticipation of possible flooding.
