Imran Khan Claims Solitary Confinement in Adiyala Jail, Describes Conditions as ‘Terrorist-Like
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has made a startling claim about his conditions at Adiyala Jail, describing his confinement as being in a 7x8ft cell similar to those reserved for terrorists. In a rare interview conducted through his legal team, Khan, who has been imprisoned for almost a year, revealed that he is subjected to solitary confinement with minimal space and constant surveillance.
Khan’s statements come amidst ongoing legal battles, with over 200 cases filed against him and several convictions. Despite securing bail or having convictions overturned in some cases, Khan remains behind bars due to new charges. His recent conviction in the Toshakhana case led to his re-arrest, along with his wife Bushra, after a brief release on another charge.
The former cricketer-turned-politician has consistently criticized his treatment in jail, calling it a violation of basic prisoner and human rights. However, Information Minister Atta Tarar has dismissed these claims, asserting that Khan is not held under the conditions described.
