Imran Khan and PTI Leaders Booked in High-Profile Terrorism Cases
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, along with his sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, has been booked in four cases of terrorism. The charges, registered in Lahore, also include top PTI leaders such as Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Sheikh Imtiaz, and Ali Imtiaz Warraich. These cases have been filed under Section 109 for violation of Section 144 in the provincial capital.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), luxury facilities provided to Imran Khan in jail and permission for meetings have allegedly fueled anti-state violence. From October 3 to 6, a total of 23 cases, many deemed high-profile, have been registered against PTI leadership and workers. These cases include accusations of police encounter, interference with police operations, and robbery. As of October 6, 129 individuals have been arrested under terrorism charges.
The ongoing legal action is reminiscent of previous cases against PTI leadership following the May 9 incidents, with authorities tightening their grip on protestors and leadership alike. The political tensions continue to rise as PTI faces mounting legal challenges.
