Imran Khan Alleges Faiz Hameed’s Arrest Aimed at Testifying Against Him in Military Court
Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, has claimed that the arrest of ex-ISI Chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed is part of a broader scheme to have him testify against Khan in a military court. Khan’s remarks came following an announcement from the Pakistan Army’s media relations department that Hameed had been taken into military custody over alleged violations of the Army Act.
Imran Khan suggested that the ongoing court martial proceedings against Hameed are a ploy to shift his own legal battles into the military jurisdiction. “The drama of Faiz Hameed’s arrest is being staged to take my case to the military court,” Khan stated.
Hameed, who was once a close associate of Khan during his tenure as Prime Minister, is reportedly involved in the controversial Top City case. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also confirmed that three more retired army officers have been detained as part of a wider investigation into breaches of military conduct. Khan dismissed the charges against him as baseless and expressed confidence that the public’s support for PTI is growing despite these actions. He also condemned the rumors circulating about his wife, Bushra Bibi, being linked to Hameed, calling them “shameful.”
The ISPR’s statement emphasized that the detained officers are under investigation for actions that allegedly compromised military discipline and contributed to political instability in the country. The investigation is ongoing, and the military authorities have not ruled out further arrests.
