ICC Announces Record Prize Money for Champions Trophy 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the prize money for the much-anticipated ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to begin on February 19.
The tournament, making a return after an eight-year hiatus, will see eight teams competing for a record-breaking prize pool of $6.9 million. The champion team will take home a staggering $2.24 million, while the runners-up will receive $1.12 million. Losing semi-finalists will earn $560,000 each.
A significant 53% increase in the total prize money compared to the 2017 edition highlights the ICC’s growing investment in global cricket. Each match in the group stage will carry financial stakes, with victorious teams earning over $34,000 per win.
Teams finishing in fifth and sixth positions will be awarded $350,000 each, while seventh and eighth-placed teams will receive $140,000. Additionally, all eight teams will get a guaranteed $125,000 for participating in the event.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is a historic moment for Pakistan, as it will be the first ICC event hosted in the country since 1996. The tournament will feature two groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
ICC Chair Jay Shah emphasized the importance of the tournament, stating, “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent. The substantial prize pool underscores our commitment to investing in the sport and enhancing the global appeal of our events.”
