Hunan University of Medicine Honors Dr. Iqbal Choudhary with Newly Established Research Center
In a significant tribute to Pakistani scientific achievements, China’s Hunan University of Medicine has established a new research center dedicated to Dr. Iqbal Choudhary, a prominent Pakistani scientist. The center, spanning 13,000 square feet, will host 17 permanent researchers focused on enhancing scientific collaboration between Pakistan and China.
Founded in 1912, Hunan University of Medicine is one of China’s leading public medical universities, offering a range of undergraduate and graduate medical programs. This marks the first time a research center at Hunan University has been named after a Pakistani scientist, underscoring Dr. Choudhary’s vital contributions to fostering international scientific partnerships.
Dr. Choudhary has played a strategic role in establishing collaborative research projects, especially between Chinese and Pakistani scientists. He has received numerous honors, including the Mustafa Prize, several civil awards from Pakistan, and China’s Friendship Award (2022), recognizing his pivotal influence in the scientific community. He also serves as the Vice President for Central and South Asia in TWAS, the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries.
The research center aims to strengthen the ties between Pakistan and China, advancing shared goals in science and innovation through collaborative research and knowledge exchange.
