Heavy Rain Alert for KP, Kashmir & GB: Risk of Landslides and Flash Floods

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, warning of heavy rainfall in the next 12–24 hours. Areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, and Abbottabad are likely to experience significant downpours.
According to the report, heavy rain may trigger flash floods in low-lying areas, swelling of streams and nullahs, and landslides in mountainous regions. The NDMA has advised local communities, farmers, and authorities to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures.
The authority further warned that strong winds and thunderstorms could uproot weak trees and cause power outages. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in contact with local authorities in case of emergencies.
