Displaying guns and firing them in viral social media videos has become a rising trend among youth in Peshawar. Platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram are being used to showcase firearms as a symbol of style and power — a dangerous development alarming law enforcement.

Under the directives of SSP Operations, police have intensified crackdowns in several areas of Peshawar. In one such operation, DSP Yakatoot Circle Saeed-ur-Rehman Khan and Science College Outpost Incharge Zeeshan Khan tracked and arrested a suspect, Jamshed Khan, from Deir Colony. He had uploaded a video showing off a pistol. The weapon was recovered, and a case has been registered for further investigation.

Similar operations were conducted in Kotwali, Faqirabad, and Phari Pura areas, where more young individuals involved in weapon display videos have been apprehended.

According to SSP Operations, a zero-tolerance policy is being followed regarding this social media gun culture, and further arrests are expected in the coming days to ensure public safety.
