Gulf Nations Slam Israel’s Expansionist Map Claims

Gulf nations, including Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, have issued strong condemnations of Israel’s publication of a map asserting historical claims over Palestine and parts of Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

The map, circulated via Israeli official social media accounts, was labeled by the Qatari Foreign Ministry as a “flagrant violation of international law” and a threat to peace efforts. Qatar urged the global community to pressure Israel into halting its expansionist policies.

The UAE’s Foreign Ministry described the map as a deliberate attempt to expand the occupation, warning that such provocations could escalate regional tensions and undermine peace initiatives.

Saudi Arabia emphasized that the claims illustrate Israel’s intent to consolidate control over occupied territories, calling on the international community to uphold state sovereignty and international norms to ensure stability.

These denunciations follow past incidents, such as Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s controversial presentation of a map including Jordan in March 2023. The region’s collective voice against Israeli actions highlights the rising tensions and demands for adherence to international laws.
