Govt Negotiation Committee Confident of Peaceful Resolution in Azad Kashmir
Members of the federal government’s high-level negotiation committee have expressed confidence that the ongoing issues in Azad Kashmir will be resolved peacefully through dialogue. The committee, formed on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s instructions, appealed to protesters to remain calm and assured them that their legitimate demands will be fulfilled under the Constitution and the law.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal stressed that the people of Azad Kashmir were patriotic and urged them not to let external forces exploit the unrest. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, leading the delegation, said that problems are solved “by sitting together, not by protests,” adding that talks with the Public Action Committee would help resolve misunderstandings.
Federal Minister Ameer Muqam recalled previous good-faith talks and reaffirmed that “nothing is achieved through protests, issues are resolved by talking.” Meanwhile, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf underlined that the delegation would review the situation on the ground, warning of external elements trying to take advantage.
