Google Launches ‘Doppl’: Try On Clothes Virtually Using Just a Photo
Google has launched an experimental app called Doppl, designed to let users try on clothing virtually using AI-generated visuals of their own body. The app is available on iOS and Android in the U.S.
Once users upload a full-body image, they can overlay outfits from screenshots, social media, or online stores to see how the clothes would look on them. Doppl even generates short AI videos that simulate motion, showing how the fabric might fit or flow when worn.
This marks a new direction in Google’s virtual try-on efforts. Previously, users could view outfits on preset models via Google Shopping. But now, Doppl brings the experience to a personalized level.
Google has acknowledged that Doppl is still in its early stages, and results may not always be perfect — especially with fit and fine clothing details.
By launching Doppl as a separate app, Google seems to be targeting the fashion-forward crowd in a more experimental and socially engaging way, while also testing how consumers interact with AI-driven clothing previews.
