Germany has announced a new €114 million (approx. PKR 35 billion) development assistance package for Pakistan under the 2025–26 bilateral cooperation framework, aimed at supporting key sectors such as renewable energy, climate protection, sustainable economic growth, vocational training, and social welfare.

The bilateral development cooperation talks between Pakistan and Germany concluded successfully in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting was co-chaired by Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of Economic Affairs, and Ms. Christine Toetzke, Director General of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas (Anna Lepel) and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany Saqlein Syeda were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim thanked the German government for its continued and valuable partnership, emphasizing that Germany’s support aligns with Pakistan’s economic transformation vision — “Uraan Pakistan.”

He lauded Germany’s contribution toward renewable energy projects, employment generation, and social protection systems, and expressed hope for even deeper institutional cooperation.

BMZ’s Director General Christine Toetzke appreciated Pakistan’s reform efforts and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to support the country in tackling climate change, economic stabilization, and social inclusion challenges.

German Ambassador Anna Lepel reiterated her government’s resolve to strengthen long-standing bilateral ties, stating that Germany “values its friendship with Pakistan and will continue to promote sustainable development, good governance, and public welfare.”

At the end of the session, both sides signed the Summary Record of the 2025 Pakistan–Germany Development Cooperation Talks, formally endorsing the new financial assistance and reaffirming mutual cooperation.

The next round of bilateral development negotiations will be held in Berlin in 2027.
