Omar Bin Laden, son of the Al Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden, has been deported from France and barred from returning after he posted content on social media that was deemed to glorify terrorism. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed the deportation, noting that Bin Laden had lived in the Orne region of Normandy for several years with his British spouse.

According to reports, the French authorities became alarmed after a 2023 social media post by Omar Bin Laden, which appeared to celebrate the birthday of his father, who was killed by U.S. forces in 2011. French authorities acted swiftly, deporting him and issuing an administrative order that ensures Bin Laden cannot return to France “for any reason whatsoever.”

Local media reports indicate that French police had been on the lookout for Bin Laden in Domfort, Normandy, following the controversial post, which resulted in his eventual deportation. Omar Bin Laden, who had been living a quiet life as a landscape artist, could not be reached for comment.
