Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s Key Remarks on India and Afghanistan in National Assembly Session
During a session of the National Assembly, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke in detail about Pakistan’s relations with India and Afghanistan. He emphasized that Pakistan is engaged in constructive talks with India to resolve all outstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute.
Dar urged India to create a conducive environment for dialogue, adding that India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir remains a major obstacle in the bilateral relationship. He further stated that, despite challenges in bilateral ties, Pakistan has acted responsibly and maintained the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).
He also revealed that Pakistan renewed the Kartarpur Corridor agreement with India for another five years in October 2024, underscoring the importance of this initiative for religious and cultural cooperation.
On Afghanistan, Dar stated that diplomatic engagement with the neighboring country remains a priority for Pakistan. However, he highlighted the significant hurdle posed by terrorist groups using Afghan territory, which has hindered the development of bilateral relations.
