Five Years of Brutality and Human Rights Violations Since Repeal of Special Status

On the fifth anniversary of the Indian government’s revocation of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service has highlighted a disturbing increase in human rights violations in the region. Since August 5, 2019, when the BJP government led by Narendra Modi illegally repealed Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian constitution, the territory has witnessed a surge in military siege and gross human rights violations.

The report reveals that Indian troops have martyred 907 Kashmiris, including 17 women and 30 young boys, over the past five years.
