FIA Officers Implicated in Greece Boat Tragedy Transferred Amid Human Trafficking Scandal

A major scandal has emerged in the investigation of the Greece boat accident, revealing the involvement of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officers in human trafficking operations. The tragedy, which brought global attention to the plight of illegal migrants, has resulted in the expulsion of 18 FIA officials, including a sub-inspector, three ASIs, and 11 head constables.
The affected officers, previously posted in Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, have been transferred, and Sialkot Airport’s Additional Director (Immigration), Ali Zaidi, has been reassigned. A departmental inquiry has been launched, with 38 officers summoned to FIA headquarters for direct investigation by the Director General.
The Prime Minister has expressed outrage over the negligence that allowed the incident, reiterating the need for strict measures against human trafficking. This tragedy has reignited concerns about Pakistan’s global reputation and the need to curb such illicit practices.
