FIA Cybercrime Wing Arrests Orya Maqbool Jan’s Associates for Defamatory Content

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing arrested two individuals, Murtaza Khan and Ahmed Hassan, in Lahore for their involvement in distributing derogatory material against high-ranking officials. The suspects were reportedly part of a team led by prominent anchorperson Orya Maqbool Jan.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested individuals were involved in editing and sharing compromising images of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on various social media platforms. These images were accompanied by defamatory remarks, causing widespread concern. The FIA has charged the suspects under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against those involved in cybercrimes. The agency reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that no individual is above legal accountability, particularly in cases of online defamation and harassment.

The case has drawn attention to the growing challenges of cybercrime in Pakistan and the importance of enforcing laws to protect individuals from digital defamation and harassment.
