Federal Cabinet Approves Rs 20 Billion for Operation Azm-e-Istehkam to Counter Terrorism

In response to the recent surge in terrorist activities, the federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved a significant allocation of Rs 20 billion for Operation Azm-e-Istehkam. The operation is aimed at enhancing national security and addressing the growing threat of terrorism within the country.

During the cabinet meeting, a comprehensive six-point agenda was discussed, which included both the economic and political challenges currently facing Pakistan. Among the key decisions, the cabinet also approved Rs 1.95 billion for the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan to ensure the security of the Reko Diq project, a major mineral extraction site in the province.

In addition to these security measures, the cabinet made strides in fiscal responsibility by approving the recommendations of the Right Sizing Committee. These measures aim to further reduce government expenses, reflecting a commitment to financial prudence amidst challenging economic conditions.

The cabinet also ratified decisions made during the recent Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting, including updates on the transfer of Pakistan Works Department (PWD) staff, Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects, and the review of an agenda item related to the Convention on the Recovery of Maintenance Abroad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of these decisions in ensuring both the security and economic stability of Pakistan, particularly in light of the recent terrorist incidents that have shaken the nation.
