Faryal Gohar Opens Up About Marriage: “I Even Wore a Burqa Out of Love for Jamal Shah”
Pakistani actress and human rights activist Faryal Gohar shared candid details about her personal life during a recent morning show appearance. She revealed that before marriage she dressed in Western outfits, including mini-skirts, but after marrying actor Jamal Shah, she even wore a burqa out of love.
Gohar spoke about her family roots, explaining that her mother hailed from Gujarat, India, and her ancestors migrated to South Africa before 1910. Her mother later moved to the UK, where she met Faryal’s father—a Pakistani army officer serving at the embassy.
Raised in a Western household, Faryal adopted the same style in her youth. She also recalled her father’s early death due to kidney disease.
Discussing her career, she revealed that her first role at age 17 showed only her hand on PTV. This eventually led to hand modeling and then acting, where she met Jamal Shah. She admitted she was charmed by his personality and dimples.
Laughing, she said, “I wore a burqa for his love,” but also revealed that her in-laws disapproved of her acting career and treated her harshly after marriage.
Regarding her divorce, she clarified that Jamal Shah’s “slow nature” was not the sole reason — several other factors were involved, which she chose not to disclose.
