Fans Pay Tribute to Legendary Actor Abid Ali on His Fifth Death Anniversary

Five years ago, the Pakistani entertainment industry lost one of its most cherished figures, Abid Ali. On Thursday, fans and colleagues are remembering the late actor on his fifth death anniversary, honoring his incredible contributions to television and cinema.

Born in 1952 in Quetta, Abid Ali began his career at Radio Pakistan before moving to Lahore, where he achieved stardom as an actor. Known for his versatility, he left a lasting legacy in classic Pakistani dramas such as Waris, Jhok Siyal, Zanjeer, and Dasht. His portrayal of Dilawar Khan in the PTV drama Waris remains one of his most iconic roles. Abid Ali’s career spanned over 45 years, during which he appeared in over 200 films and numerous television dramas. He was honored with the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 1985 for his outstanding contributions to the arts.

In addition to acting, Abid Ali ventured into directing and producing. His 1993 hit drama Dasht marked the beginning of his career as a director and producer, and it was the first privately produced drama in Pakistan. He continued to make his mark with other notable projects such as Doosra Aasman, Saheli, and Massi aur Malka.
