England’s Struggles Begin as Pakistan Set Mammoth Target of 556

In a thrilling start to England’s chase of Pakistan’s enormous total of 556, the visitors lost their first wicket for just 4 runs, with captain Ollie Pope being bowled by Naseem Shah without scoring. The setback marks a difficult beginning for England in their pursuit of the daunting target.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan was bowled out for a commanding 556 on the second day of the first Test match in Multan. Agha Salman was the star of the innings, scoring an unbeaten 104, while Saud Shakeel contributed 82 runs before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir. The tailenders added some valuable runs, with Shaheen Afridi making 26 and Naseem Shah scoring 33. England’s Jack Leach took three wickets, while Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse claimed two wickets each.

On the first day, Pakistan had posted an impressive 328/4 at the close of play, with captain Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique dominating England’s bowlers. Abdullah Shafique scored 102 runs, marking his fifth Test century, while Shan Masood delivered a stunning 151 before being dismissed, adding to his century tally after four years.
