The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has declared an emergency in Upper Chitral following the widespread destruction caused by monsoon rains and glacier bursts. The state of emergency, which will be in effect until August 30, was announced after significant damage to roads, bridges, and both private and government buildings.

In response to the devastation, the Chief Minister has canceled the leave of the administration in Upper Chitral and directed all officials to be present on-site to oversee relief and rehabilitation efforts. The Secretary of Relief issued the emergency declaration for one month, emphasizing the need for immediate and comprehensive action.

The floods, triggered by heavy monsoon rains and glacier bursts, have left many areas in Upper Chitral inaccessible and have disrupted daily life. The Chief Minister has called for swift alternative arrangements for the victims and stressed the importance of conducting relief activities on a war footing.

Efforts are now focused on providing immediate assistance to those affected, with a priority on restoring infrastructure and ensuring that all necessary resources are mobilized to aid in the recovery process. The provincial government is working closely with local authorities to address the needs of the residents and mitigate the impact of the natural disaster.
