Eid ul-Adha in Pakistan Likely on June 7, Astronomers Predict Moon Sighting Date

Astronomical experts in Pakistan have forecasted the likely sighting of the moon for the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah, which determines the date of Eid ul-Adha.

According to the experts, the possibility of a new lunar month beginning on May 27 is low because the moon’s age at sunset will be only 11 hours, making it difficult to sight with the naked eye. Thus, it is unlikely that the month of Dhul-Qa’dah will end on that day.

However, by May 28, the moon is expected to be over 35 hours old, making its visibility significantly higher. If this prediction holds true, Dhul-Hijjah would begin on May 29 (Wednesday), and Eid ul-Adha would fall on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

It is important to note that the final decision will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after the official moon sighting, but astronomical forecasts can help citizens plan travel and preparations in advance.
