Despite Indian Aggression, Pakistan Ready for Peace Talks, ISPR DG

In a significant statement amid rising regional tensions, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that Pakistan remains committed to peace despite facing unprovoked aggression from India.

In an interview with The New York Times, Lt Gen Chaudhry confirmed that on May 7, India launched missile attacks on Pakistani territory, triggering a defensive response from Pakistan. According to the ISPR, the Pakistan Air Force effectively countered the attack, reportedly shooting down six Indian fighter jets.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s military actions were strictly defensive and focused on maintaining strategic stability in the region. “We chose a mature and responsible path by not escalating the situation further,” he said, reaffirming Pakistan’s readiness for constructive dialogue.

This development comes as tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors once again threaten regional peace. However, Pakistan’s approach indicates a desire to avoid further conflict and promote diplomatic solutions.
