Depression Strengthens Over Arabian Sea, Sindh Coast on High Alert
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has confirmed that a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea has developed into a depression, now located around 440 km south of Karachi. The Tropical Cyclone Warning Center issued its fourth alert, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across Sindh’s coastal districts.
Areas including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Karachi are likely to receive light rain with lightning today. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 40–50 km/h, while the Arabian Sea remains unsafe for fishing activities due to rough waves.
Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the deep sea until October 3. Coastal and port authorities remain on high alert as officials continue monitoring the system for potential cyclone development.
