CM Sohail Afridi Rules Out Military Operation in KP: “No Operation During Our Tenure”

Newly elected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has categorically ruled out any military operation in the province, declaring that such measures are not a solution to Pakistan’s problems.
In his maiden address to the provincial assembly after being elected as the 30th Chief Minister, Afridi reiterated Imran Khan’s stance against armed operations and called for a more inclusive and consultative policymaking approach.
“Military operations are not a solution to any problem. Imran Khan is against such actions, and as long as we are in power, no such move will be allowed,” Afridi said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that decisions regarding security and border policies must not be made “in closed rooms,” and the KP government and tribal representatives must be taken into confidence.
Calling for a review of Pakistan’s Afghan policy, Afridi said the peace and stability of the region depend on mutual understanding. He lamented the forced repatriation of Afghan refugees and demanded that tribal people and the KP government be included in future policy decisions.
Afridi also accused past governments of “trading the heads of Pakhtuns” and warned against any policy that could trigger unrest in the province.
Reaffirming his loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan, Afridi said, “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs only to Imran Khan, and only he will run it.”
He warned that if Imran Khan were shifted from jail without PTI’s consultation, “the entire country would be jammed.”
Highlighting his humble tribal roots, Afridi said his election symbolized the removal of deprivation among the tribal people and thanked PTI workers, social media activists, and slain journalist Arshad Sharif, calling him “Pakistan’s biggest martyr.”
