Chinese Premier Li Arrives in Pakistan, Strengthening Economic and Strategic Ties
Chinese Premier Li Qiang landed in Pakistan on Monday for a four-day bilateral visit, marking his first trip to the country in 11 years. Premier Li was warmly welcomed at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key government officials, including Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. A guard of honour was presented by Pakistan’s armed forces.
The visit holds significant importance as the two leaders will discuss strengthening economic and trade relations, particularly focusing on the $65 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a critical component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Premier Li will also participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit during his stay. This visit is expected to further enhance Pakistan-China cooperation across various sectors, cementing their long-standing partnership.
