China Expresses Serious Concern Over Israeli Airstrike That Killed Hezbollah Leader in Beirut
China has expressed serious concern over reports of an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on September 27, which resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the act, describing it as a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region.
Beijing urged all parties involved, particularly Israel, to show restraint and avoid further actions that could inflame tensions. “China opposes any move that fuels antagonism and escalates regional conflicts,” a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to de-escalate the situation.
China linked the current tensions between Lebanon and Israel to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, suggesting that regional unrest is spreading beyond Gaza’s borders. Beijing also called for swift implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions to end violence in Gaza and restore peace in the Middle East.
The Chinese government reiterated its position on respecting sovereignty and security for all nations involved, while condemning any acts that result in harm to innocent civilians.
