Cheteshwar Pujara has achieved a remarkable milestone in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Saurashtra and Chhattisgarh by becoming the leading double centurion of the 21st century in first-class cricket. Pujara surpassed Mark Ramprakash and Herbert Sutcliffe, who both had 17 double centuries each, and now holds 18 double centuries to his name.

Saurashtra came out to bat in response to Chhattisgarh’s imposing 578-7 declared, and Pujara, batting at number 3, played a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings. He formed a key partnership of 109 runs with Sheldon Jackson and added another 147 runs with Arpit Vasavada for the fourth wicket. Pujara reached his century in 197 balls and doubled it up after facing another 151 deliveries, eventually getting dismissed for a well-crafted 234.

This latest achievement places Pujara in an elite list of cricketers, with only Don Bradman (37), Walter Hammond (36), and Patsy Hendren (22) having more first-class double centuries than him.
