Pakistan and China have signed an agreement to establish a customs Green Channel for agricultural products, aiming to streamline trade and speed up the processing of eligible shipments between the two countries.
According to Pakistan Customs, the signing ceremony was held at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters between the customs administrations of Pakistan and China. Pakistan’s delegation was led by Member Customs Operations Shakeel Shah.
Under the agreement, eligible agricultural consignments will receive priority processing through the Green Channel, helping facilitate cross-border trade and reduce unnecessary delays.
Pakistan Customs said customs controls would be applied on a risk-based approach, while information sharing between the two countries’ customs administrations would also be strengthened.
The arrangement includes priority handling for perishable agricultural shipments, which could help reduce delays affecting products such as fruits, vegetables and other time-sensitive goods.
Pakistan Customs said the initiative is expected to improve trade management and strengthen trade facilitation between Pakistan and China.
The agreement could benefit Pakistani agricultural exporters by making shipment processing more efficient. However, its practical impact will depend on implementation, eligibility requirements and the effectiveness of customs procedures under the new arrangement.
