British MP Yasmin Qureshi Urges Pakistan to Reconsider Closure of PIA London Office

British Member of Parliament (MP) Yasmin Qureshi has expressed serious concerns over the potential closure of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) London office, urging the Pakistani government to reconsider the decision. In a letter addressed to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Qureshi emphasized the vital role the London office plays in PIA’s operations within the UK, particularly at a time when the airline is working to restore flights to and from the region.
Qureshi stressed that closing the office could have significant negative consequences for the airline’s ability to operate efficiently and serve the Pakistani community in the UK. As a key operational hub, the London office plays an important role in ticket sales, customer service, and flight coordination.
In her letter, Qureshi pointed out that the timing of such a decision is critical, as the airline is already in the process of rebuilding its reputation and operations after a challenging period. She believes that keeping the office operational would provide essential support for PIA’s recovery and help facilitate the airline’s efforts to restore its flight services.
However, a spokesperson from PIA swiftly clarified the situation, stating that there are no plans to shut down the London office. According to the spokesperson, the office is being modernized and revamped to align with current operational needs and market conditions.
The clarification aims to put to rest any fears of an imminent closure, while also reassuring the public that the airline is committed to adapting to the evolving demands of the airline industry.
As of now, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold, but for now, the focus is on ensuring that PIA can continue to operate smoothly in the UK market, a crucial territory for the airline.
