Bilawal Demands BISP-Based Aid for Flood Victims
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in a press conference at CM House Karachi, urged the federal government to channel flood relief through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He reminded that during previous floods and COVID-19, the same mechanism was successfully used to deliver aid directly to the people.
Bilawal announced that the Sindh government has decided to assist small farmers through the Benazir Hari Card, helping them purchase fertilizers like DAP and urea. He stressed that empowering farmers can reduce dependence on wheat imports and even turn Pakistan into an exporter.
He further demanded the federal government to declare an agricultural emergency, negotiate with the IMF for farmer-friendly measures, and provide tax relief to growers. Bilawal emphasized that Punjab, especially South Punjab, has been hit hard, and farmers there urgently require transparent relief through BISP.
