Bangladesh Whitewashes Pakistan in Historic Test Series
Bangladesh secured a historic 2-0 series whitewash against Pakistan with a six-wicket victory in the second Test match in Rawalpindi. The defeat marks the second time Pakistan has been whitewashed on home soil, the first being in 2022 against England.
Pakistan posted scores of 274 and 172 in their two innings, with Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Salman Agha providing some resistance. However, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the star of the show, taking five wickets for 61 runs in Pakistan’s first innings, which set the stage for Bangladesh’s successful chase.
Bangladesh’s batsmen displayed discipline and resilience, overcoming stumbles to chase down the target of 185 on the final day. The victory has been lauded as a testament to Bangladesh’s growing strength in Test cricket, with special praise for their former coach Alan Donald, whose work with the fast bowlers has paid dividends.
Captain Shanto’s leadership was also pivotal in this series. His astute field placements, timely bowling changes, and overall resource management have been praised by commentators as key factors in Bangladesh’s dominant performance.
