Army Soldier Among Three Arrested in Murder of Muslim Woman in Jammu

Jammu police have arrested a serving Indian Army soldier and two others in connection with the brutal murder of a Muslim woman and the attempted killing of her two sisters inside a physiotherapy centre at Sainik Colony, Jammu.
The Crime Branch confirmed the arrests and said more suspects may be detained. A senior officer stated, “Three persons have been arrested so far, including a serving Army soldier. Further arrests are likely as we are probing the role of others. The weapon of offence has also been recovered.”
The soldier has been identified as Naik Sher Singh of Hisar, Haryana, posted at the Movement Control Office (MCO) at Jammu Tawi Railway Station. He allegedly opened fire inside the clinic in a rage-fueled attack, firing eight rounds at the three women.
The victim, Mehajbeen Akil Sheikh (30) of Malad, Mumbai, succumbed to her injuries on August 29 at Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu. Her sisters, Fatima Akil (21) and Jaspreet Kour (28) of Ludhiana, were critically injured but survived.
The incident has sparked shock and anger, with demands for justice and accountability as the investigation unfolds.
