Apple to Equip All iPhone 17 Models with 12GB RAM for Enhanced AI and Performance

Apple is preparing for a major performance upgrade in its upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, with reports confirming that all four models—including the new iPhone 17 Air—will feature 12GB of RAM. This marks a substantial increase from the 8GB RAM in the iPhone 16 series.
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple has already finalized 12GB RAM for the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and Air variants. Although the decision for the base iPhone 17 is still pending, Kuo believes that it will likely follow suit depending on supply chain stability. Even if the base model retains 8GB, Apple is expected to make 12GB the new standard with the iPhone 18 in 2026.
The decision stems from Apple’s focus on artificial intelligence and multitasking. The additional memory will enable the devices to support more powerful on-device AI models, leading to faster processing and smoother user experiences.
This strategic move is also expected to benefit memory chip suppliers like Micron and SK Hynix, especially with growing demand for AI-optimized hardware.
The iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be launched in September 2025, and tech enthusiasts are already speculating that this RAM boost could redefine performance benchmarks in the smartphone industry.
