Ali Muhammad Khan Declares September 10 a “Black Day” After PTI Leaders’ Arrests
On Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan described September 10 as a “black day” in Pakistan’s history following the arrest of PTI leaders under controversial circumstances. Khan, a prominent PTI figure, criticized the government for what he described as a severe infringement on democratic principles.
Addressing the media, Khan referred to the events as “May 9 of Democracy in Pakistan,” drawing a parallel to a notorious date in the country’s political history. He expressed outrage over the arrest of PTI leaders from inside parliament, their residences, and even a mosque. “We are fighting for democracy in Pakistan, not Israel,” Khan asserted.
Khan condemned the government’s decision to permit police to arrest parliamentarians and religious leaders from sacred and governmental spaces. He characterized the arrests as an attack on Pakistan’s laws and constitution and called for the imposition of Article 6 against those responsible for these actions.
In a show of solidarity, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Naveed Qamar and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Mustafa Kamal also condemned the arrests, reinforcing the sentiment of the PTI leadership.
