AI will surpass human brain’s capabilities, scientist
Artificial intelligence is poised to exceed the human brain’s capacity, according to technology analyst Eitan Michael Azoff. In his book Towards Human-Level Artificial Intelligence, Azoff explores how understanding the “neural code” – the brain’s method of encoding sensory information and cognitive tasks – could unlock the development of human-level AI.
Azoff argues that once the neural code is cracked, machines will be able to replicate consciousness, although likely without self-awareness as we experience it. He believes that visual processing will be the key, as visual thinking predates human language. “We will engineer faster, superior brains,” he claims, noting that the advancements will be a milestone in the pursuit of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
However, Azoff acknowledges the risks associated with AI, including its potential misuse. He stresses that humans must retain control over the technology by ensuring AI systems have built-in safety behaviors and a manual “off switch.”
